Backflow Preventer Testing & Annual Certification

Backflow preventer testing verifies that a backflow prevention assembly is operating within required performance standards. Many municipalities and water authorities require certain backflow devices to be tested annually by a qualified tester and documented through a certification or compliance process.

Annual testing is important because a backflow preventer can appear normal externally while internal check valves, relief valves, or seals are no longer functioning correctly.

What Is Backflow?

Backflow is the undesirable reversal of water through a plumbing system. It can occur because of backpressure or backsiphonage.
